Clinical Characteristics and Treatment Outcomes of HIV+ and HIV- Tuberculosis Patients Followed and Treated at the Regional Hospital of Oyem, Northern Gabon: A Two-Year Retrospective Study

Background: The objective of this study was to analyse the clinical characteristics HIV+ and HIV- tuberculosis patients followed treated at Oyem Regional Hospital Centre (ORHC).
 Materials Methods: During conducted between January 2019 December 2021, data collection based on exploitation medical records registers results from analysis laboratory regional hospital Oyem, in which there were personal (gender age) patients, status HIV infection, (pulmonary or extra pulmonary TB), finally, therapeutic outcomes after anti-tuberculosis antiretroviral treatment. Binomial test following Normal distribution used find an association percentages extrapulmonary TB TB+/HIV+ co-infection.
 Results: In study, 128 confirmed cases selected. While 54 (42.19%) co-infected with TB+/HIV+, 74 (57.81%) monoinfected TB+/HIV+. Among all these 93 (72.66%) reported have 35 (27.34%) had TB. A normal binomial showed that co-infection significantly associated (p=0.04). Patients put treatment according manufacturers' indications. Despite a total 15 deaths (8.93%) both mono- favourable outcome, declared cured. With 8 deaths, mortality higher than non-HIV infected who recorded 7 deaths.
 Conclusion: By indicating relatively high prevalence infection TB, severe form disease, increased hence need strengthen joint activities control co-infection.
